Collablocation

What is Collablocation?

Collablocation is a free, open-source geodesign platform for facility location problems. As the name implies, it's a collaborative laboratory for location. The term "geodesign" was coined around 2008 to describe an interactive collaborative process in which stakeholders work together to solve thorny geographic planning problems using easy yet powerful mapping software. Collablocation extends geodesign from its roots in land-use planning to facilities such as fuel stations (our first application), schools, fire stations, or virtually anything that can be represented as a set of points on a map.

Collablocation was created by Arizona State University and University of Arizona in 2017, with funding from the Arizona Board of Regents Research Innovation Fund (ABOR-RIF). It is available on Github under the General Public License (GPL). We encourage other GIS programmers to develop new applications of Collablocation with new features and submodels, so we can build a library of collaborative geodesign tools for point location problems.Collablocation was created by Arizona State University and University of Arizona in 2017, with funding from the Arizona Board of Regents Research Innovation Fund (ABOR-RIF).
