The journal Geographical Analysis was founded in 1969 with a goal of presenting significant advances in geographical theory, model building and quantitative methods.  It has continued to be the pre-eminent journal in this realm, read not only by geographers but also scholars in a wide range of related fields.

In a recent list of articles downloaded from the journal’s Wiley Online web site in the past year (January-December 2014), the 3 top articles were all either authored or co-authored by ASU geographers:

  1. GeoDa: An Introduction to Spatial Data Analysis”, by Luc Anselin, Ibnu Syabri and Youngihn Kho, Vol 38, Issue 1, pp. 5-22, Jan 2006
  2. Local Indicators of Spatial Association—LISA,”  Luc Anselin, Vol 27, Issue 2, 93-115, Apr 1995
  3. Geographically Weighted Regression: A Method for Exploring Spatial Nonstationarity”  Chris Brunsdon, A. Stewart Fotheringham and Martin E. Charlton, Volume 28, Issue 4, pages 281–298, October 1996

The GeoDa paper was downloaded more than 4500 times over 2014, and downloads for the other two exceeded 4000 and 2700 respectively.
