Help us strengthen our friendships

Almost thirty years ago, a group of interested alumni and community members, with the support of emeritus professor Malcolm Comeaux, launched the Friends of Geography. This group, who shared an interest in all-things geography, met regularly to plan a wide variety of events that brought the school and its faculty much closer to the community they served.

Now, with the school under new leadership and all kinds of exciting research being conducted by our diverse faculty of geographers and urban planners, the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning is happy to announce the launch of the Friends of Geography and Urban Planning.

Our faculty are looking forward to engaging with you, whether you graduated from one of our many academic programs or simply are curious about what is happening today in the fields we study.

  • Are you interested in attending special talks given by our renowned faculty so you can better understand critical issues like climate change, extreme weather or housing inequality and gentrification?
  • What about a field trip to a local site where you can learn from a faculty member whose passion is studying our changing physical environment?
  • How about helping our students secure useful internships that will help them prepare for work after graduation?
  • Perhaps attending one of the many academic or recognition/celebration events we host each year is more appealing to you?

  • More to explore

The opportunities to get involved are boundless!
