Biography

Erinanne Saffell is the Assistant State Climatologist. Saffell is interested in understanding risk and resiliency associated with extreme weather and climate events, including drought and flood. She develops courses and upper-division seminars on these topics, and directs K-12 outreach and training programs in meteorology and climatology.

Saffell is Director of the SWIFT Weather Camp, a collaboration with the National Weather Service, Arizona State University, and the Salt River Project. SWIFT engages middle and high school students through active-learning experiments in one of only two national middle-school weather camps.

Saffell is a lecturer with the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning where she teaches Introduction to Physical Geography, Society and Environment, Extreme Weather, among other courses.
