Biography

Debaleena's interests lie in areas of GIS (Geographic Information Science/Systems) and remote sensing, energy planning, renewable energy, spatial planning, spatial data analysis, land use and land cover analysis, environmental planning and sustainable urban planning. She has designed and taught several graduate and undergraduate courses at ASU and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) specifically on diverse applications of GIS and remote sensing. Prior to joining ASU for her PhD, Debaleena was an Adjunct Faculty at CMU. Over the years Debaleena has participated in projects from Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Environmental Conservation (New York), Ministry of Urban Development (New Delhi, India) etc. She has received several fellowships and awards over the years.
